First Responders can only attend an emergency as a result of a 999 call. SAFeR’s volunteer responders are fully trained by the South East Coast Ambulance Service – SECAmb. They provide an essential service supporting the Ambulance Service in the local community, and are often able to get to an emergency before the ambulance arrives. Every year SAFeR responders attend numerous falls, strokes, heart attacks and other medical emergencies in and around the Steyning area.
