Steyning Festival’s Green Day “Making Space for Wildlife”

A number of our local environment groups worked together to make this a day which celebrated all things green and wild. It included a parade of EV vehicles, a children’s parade of wildlife animals led by musical theatre group, and also a storyteller recounting ‘Tales from the Wild Woods’ to children.

Each group set up a stall to celebrate the work being done locally, as well as entertain and inform the younger audience; 'Pin the maggot on the apple!’ proved popular, as did the chance to get up close to a slow worm.

Representatives from the 'Weald to Waves’ project were delighted with the number of visitors who agreed to put their garden ‘On the Map’ by placing a pin in giant map of Steyning and signing up online to pledge their own gardens in this ambitious project which is creating nature corridors across Sussex.

It’s good to know that the community in Steyning, Beeding and Bramber are committed to 'Making Space for Wildlife'.

If you would like to find out more about any of the groups involved, or sign your own garden up to the Weald to Waves Project, head over to the Latest News section of the Greening Steyning website where you can read the full article and find links to all of the organisations. https://greeningsteyning.org/green-day-2024-read-all-about-it/
