Steyning Bowl Awards
Friday 17th AprilThe Steyning Bowl Award was established by The Steyning Society to recognise and thank publicly those who have made significant contributions to Steyning and its local community.
This year, the award will focus on those who have done this in the fields of culture, including the arts, music and history.
Nominations may be made by anyone who lives in Steyning, irrespective of whether they are members of The Steyning Society, using the nomination form provided on the Society’s website.
Please make your nomination by Monday, 16th February 2026.
The bowl, which is the premier award, is held by the winner for a year and is then returned to the Society, so that it can be awarded again the following year. Runners up are presented with certificates of merit.
Last year’s award was made to Vintage Years and was presented to its Chair, Mary Goodchild, by Nigel Hartley.
This year’s awards will be presented immediately after the Society’s Annual General Meeting, which will be held at the Steyning Centre on Friday, 17th April 2026 at 7.30 p. m. In addition to running the Bowl Awards, the Society holds monthly talks on a wide range of topics and arranges outings and other social events, including an Annual Christmas Supper.
It also comments on planning applications and other proposals which could affect the character of the Town and the surrounding countryside and makes grants to local organisations.
