Steyning Bowl Award Winners

The Steyning Bowl Awards were established last year to recognise those who have made major contributions to Steyning and its local community. This year, the awards focused on individuals who have been working on a voluntary basis with children and young people.

The Steyning Society’s Steyning Bowl was awarded this year to Jill Allen for her 41 years of outstanding work with Steyning Woodcraft Folk.

Highly Commended Certificates were awarded to Joan Denwood for work with the young at Steyning Museum, Wendy Francis and Sue Morris for family support work at Steyning Parish Church.

Certificates of Merit were awarded to David Buckett, Linda Coleman, Mia Glass, Christine Humphries, Jane Oxley and Mike Kelly, Becky Smith, Percy Parsons, Paul Tiller and Samantha Wormleighton, all for their much appreciated work with young people at various organisations in Steyning.

These awards were presented by Mr. Adam Whitehead, Headteacher of Steyning Grammar School, at the Steyning Centre on Friday 19th April as part of The Steyning Society’s Annual General Meeting.

The presentations were followed by a talk by Dr Sue Roe about Charleston, which was once the home of the artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant and where the Bloomsbury Set used to meet. This talk was part of the Society’s programme of monthly talks.

Photographs of all the presentations are available on The Steyning Society’s website: https://steyningsociety.org.uk
