Shoreham-by-Sea’s annual Wordfest
Saturday 30th September
The festival starts with a theatre trail through the ancient Marlipins museum. In Tales of Shoreham, a guide from the early film industry on Shoreham Beach will lead small groups to meet characters from the town’s history, each having a fascinating tale to tell.
Lemn Sissay is one of the most high-profile writers in the UK and we are among the first festivals to hear him read and talk about his new poetry collection, 'Let the Light Pour In.' Always entertaining and thought-provoking, this is a unique opportunity to meet Lemn.
There are a wide variety of events to attract all ages and interests: Elly Griffiths’s humorous play The Houseboat of Death, political and international discussions with Raphael Behr and Gabriel Gatehouse, Footmarks archaeology talk, drama, song, authors and poets. Idle Women musical theatre tells the little-known story of the women who worked on the Inland Waterways during World War Two.
We are particularly proud of our partnership with Bloomin’ Arts, a charity working with young adults with disabilities, who will perform their own version of Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor.
Tickets and information about all 20 events are available from www.shorehamwordfest.com/whats-on
Tickets are also available 7 days a week from Shoreham Art Gallery, 27 Brunswick Road, BN43 5WA
