Results of Climate Action Tracker Survey

We asked what steps people had taken in the past two years to cut their carbon footprint and reduce their impact on the planet, and which ones they are thinking of taking in the next two. 17 different options were presented ranging from small steps to more substantive ones. The graph shows the results for 10 of these, showing what percentage of people have by now taken these steps.

It's encouraging to see how much is happening! Not surprisingly, the simplest actions are the most widely adopted - like changing our consumer habits or making our gardens more wildlife friendly. But a growing number or taking more ambitious steps like buying and electric vehicle or installing solar panels or a heat pump.

It should be noted that the sample group who filled in the survey was relatively small. A total of 87 households took part. So the results cannot be taken as representative of the whole community. But they do provide a revealing snapshot of what some of us are doing, and clear evidence that change is happening.

What the survey showed is that many of those who filled it in are leading from the front in taking action on climate and nature. Hopefully they are having a positive impact in encouraging their friends and neighbours to follow suit!
