Hop on the bus this summer: Your handy guide to local services.
Sunday 1st June
Local bus services are better than you might think. So why not give them a try this summer?Did you know that:
• If you get the 2 to Shoreham (hourly), you have the option to change to the 700 (Stagecoach) which runs to Worthing, and more quickly to Brighton.
• The 106 runs at 10:00 to Worthing (three days of the week), returning at 13:00 which allows a couple of hours in town or by the beach.
• There’s many lovely country walks (and pubs!) where can walk one way and take the bus back, or walk between different stops. The 100 goes to Washington, Storrington and Henfield, for example, and the 2 takes you to the South Downs Way and Shoreham.
• All the bus companies now provide maps with real time information for buses en-route via their websites and smartphone apps. More bus stops are also being updated with real time information boards – so it’s never been easier to check the timetable.
• And the good news is that the £3 single fare cap is due to run at least until the end of 2025.
To make life easier, Greening Steyning, Bramber & Beeding, with support from the Joint Parish Climate Action Group, has produced a handy map showing all the local service and where you can pick them up.
It’s available to download, and has links to all the relevant bus company websites.
