David studied Fine Art at Reading University and Chelsea School of Art. He was awarded his first degree in 1976, emerging as a figurative, symbolist painter and sculptor.

After a substantial and successful teaching career where David was eventually appointed Principal Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University, he spent his remaining years in education as a consultant working on a number of national projects.

In 2010 David chose to refocus attention on his personal practice and joined a two-year MA Fine Art programme at Chichester University.

David has produced a substantial body of work since graduating, developing a more abstract and conceptually based approach.

His recent works reflect new influences gained from his research into the ideas and philosophies of the Post-War American Abstract Expressionist and other conceptual biased artists.

'There are no figures. There is colour, but also considerable use of monochrome creating a new dynamic in the way we see and engage with his Art.’

To see David’s work visit the exhibition ‘Landscapes in Time’ at Colonnade House Gallery from 31 Oct - 12 Nov ‘23.
