Registration from 1.30pmAfternoon programme starts at 1.50pm
BAYEUX TAPESTRY LECTURE: The speaker will begin by exploring who made the Bayeux Tapestry, where it was created, and why. Not only is the tapestry a story of the most famous battle in English history, it’s also a tale of kings, chivalry and ambition. Looking at many of the scenes in detail, we will consider what might be learned from this depiction of a turning point in history.
Immediately before the lecture on the Bayeux Tapestry, MARTHA STRACHAN, a post graduate student of textile conservation and former student of Steyning Grammar School, will give a short presentation on textile conservation techniques at 1.50pm.
