BN11 1HQStravinsky's magical Firebird Suite opens this concert in which the unifying factor is traditional folk melodies turned into virtuosic orchestral showpieces. From Liszt, a master of thematic transformation, we hear the 1st Piano Concerto, with Coulsdon and Purely Festival Winner, Ekaterina Grabvoa, as soloist. The programme ends with the exhilarating 'Concerto for Orchestra', written in 1943 by Liszt's fellow Hungarian, Bela Bartók.
