Food & Drink Festival 2022 – Up & Running! We are nearing the date for the 11th Food & Drink Festival – as usual promising 4 weeks of special offers and great events. This year it will start on 3rd September and whizz through until 1st October 2022
The Festival Guide, with all details, will be found within many of the shops & eateries within our area, together with the Library, Steyning Centre, TI Point at the Post Office and Cobblestone Walk doorway - plus, of course our website: www.steyningdistrictfooddrinkfestival.co.uk
The Festival Charity this year is The St Barnabas House Hospice and during the month some eateries will include a special Charity Dish on their menu, which if chosen will attract a donation to the charity. There are also special charity take-away pizzas and a charity scone. Please do look out for these and try your best to choose these offerings so we can raise a great donation for our well known and much loved charity.
The offers take in a wide span of our local businesses – shops, eateries, attractions, accommodation, vineyards & breweries – the list goes on. Offerings include such things as discounts on meals/purchases over a certain amount; free hot drink with cake purchase; Luxury breakfast discount; Tuesday cream tea special; free garlic bread and buy-one-get-one-free.
The non-foodie stores join in the fun too, giving discounts on food related items in their stores – i.e. chinaware, glassware, etc., etc. The Farmers Market stallholders do not disappoint either, with over 35 special offers - so don’t forget to pop along on 3rd September & 1st October to search out some great deals.
Do not forget though, that in order to take up these offers you will need to show to the business involved, either the Festival Guide or the Festival Website Pass (downloadable from the website).
To tempt you even more, a small selection from our events listing – too little space to name them all, but just a few to catch your eye: Wiston Wine & Food Pairing; St Barnabas Coffee & Cake morning at Ashurst Village Hall; Tasty Countryside Walk for St Barnabas; Denhams Antiques Road Show at Tottington Manor; The Artisan Bakehouse Bakery Workshops; Beer Festival Week at The Star; The Old Tollgate Summer BBQ; Product Tasting at The Sussex Grocer; Apple Juicing with Steyning Community Orchard; Superheroes Tea Party/Best Dressed Cuddly Toy Competition at The Cobblestone Tea House and – our fantastic finale – Tottington Manor Gala Evening for St Barnabas.
As you will see amongst all the wonderful dates listed, some of them are being held to benefit St Barnabas, where our aim is to raise as much as we possibly can for our Festival Charity.
So, all in all, we can look forward to some fun times with the Food & Drink Festival just around the corner – so get ready to enjoy yourselves and support our local economy at the same time. Eating out, taking in some great walks, learning new techniques. Tastings of food & wine, enjoying a week long Beer Festival – whatever brings a smile to your face. Plus, of course, the ever popular pursuit of retail therapy to run alongside it all - our wonderful selection of shops will be waiting to welcome you.
Steyning and the surrounding villages of Ashurst, Bramber, Edburton, Small Dole, Upper Beeding and Wiston – are such special places and the businesses that look after all our needs are pretty special too – both foodie and non-foodie establishments.
Let’s show them how much we value them and with the Festival set to attract visitors to the area too, let’s hope for some good financial rewards all round.
However, we must not forget that every year none of this would be possible without our fantastically generous sponsors. This year our sincere thanks go to: Horsham District Council, Rushfields Plant Centre, The Sussex Grocer, Cocoa Loco; Higgidy Pies; Steyning & District Business Chamber; Steyning & District Community Partnership and the Steyning Parish Council.
We do also have one anonymous donation, and although we cannot name them, we would like to record our thanks to them too – they will know who they are!
