Just how did ordinary people manage to build cathedrals many centuries ago? They are
towering buildings where even the higher reaches are intricately decorated. And why and for whom were they built? For God, personal redemption and livelihood are the answers to these questions, but the ‘how’ is far more complicated. This lecture explores these questions and considers the role of Master Masons who both designed the buildings and managed construction.
