This lecture looks at the music of St Paul’s Cathedral before and after the Great Fire of London which caused its closure in 1696. Just one year later, its rebirth was celebrated in Wren’s ‘Resurgam’ (‘I shall rise again’). Moving forwards in time, the speaker highlights his finest repertoire from the cathedral’s liturgical year, sharing music, photographs, and videos from 25 years of singing at St Paul's. This lecture features live song from Patrick.
Patrick is a Vicar Choral at St Paul’s Cathedral and combines this with an international career with the world-renowned early music consort, The Tallis Scholars with whom he has sung in over a thousand concerts. He has also conducted choral concerts for the BBC Proms, as well as the Brighton, Lichfield and Aldeburgh Festivals.
